Skin Needling

Boost collagen production and improve skin quality.
Suited for: acne scars, fine lines, pigmentation

Skin needling involves creating tiny puncture channels that encourage an organic collagen renewal and regeneration response. This wound healing response stimulates new collagen and elastin formation which then assists with acne scarring. Skin needling is effective for improving the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and treating pigmentation.

  • Stimulation of Collagen and Elastin: Skin needling stimulates the skin's natural healing response, promoting the production of collagen and elastin. These proteins are essential for maintaining skin elasticity, firmness, and a youthful appearance.

Improvement in Scars: Skin needling can visibly improve the appearance of scars, including acne scars and stretch marks, by promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

Gradual Results: Patients often notice improvements over a series of treatments, with optimal results becoming more apparent as collagen and elastin production continues over time.

  • During the treatment, the skin needling device is glided across the skin in a criss-cross type pattern. Patients might feel a sensation of light pressure and vibration as the device is moved over the skin.

Slight discomfort may still occur during the treatment, the feeling is best described as a mild prickling or scratching sensation as the needles make contact with the skin. The sensation is generally tolerable.

At the completion of the treatment a soothing gel or other topical solution will be applied. You may require multiple treatment sessions to achieve optimal results. Treatments can be done every 4 weeks.

  • Expectations:

    • Bruising can occur immediately after treatment but settles soon after. You should not be in pain but your skin will still feel warm.

    • It is also common for your skin to appear swollen and your skin may feel slightly sensitive after treatment.

    • Your skin may appear slightly pink or red which may last for two to seven days. Pin point bleeding may occur.

    Downtime:

    • This treatment does require a downtime of 3-7 days. Complete healing should occur after one week.

    • You may develop a flush after treatment, by day 4-5 it should have receded to a mild flush, prior to normalising soon after.

    • Redness will appear most evident in the first 1-2 days post procedure and you may experience dryness.
