Q-Switched YAG Laser
Q-Switched YAG Laser
A versatile medical laser system used to target pigmented lesions such as sun spots, age spots, freckles, pigmentation and some birthmarks. It targets melanin occurring superficially in the skin by emitting high-intensity light in extremely short pulses. This allows for precise targeting of specific skin concerns, making it an effective treatment for a range of skin conditions.

Pigment Removal: Removal of pigmented lesions and unwanted tattoos. The laser's energy is absorbed by the pigments, causing them to break down into smaller particles that the body's immune system can gradually eliminate.
Treatment of Pigment Disorders: Effectively treat a variety of pigmentation disorders, including melasma, freckles, lentigines (age spots), and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Non-Ablative: Q-Switched YAG lasers are non-ablative, meaning they don't remove the outer layer of skin. Instead, they target specific pigments or chromophores within the skin, leaving the surrounding tissue largely unaffected.

As the laser pulses are delivered, the patient will typically feel a series of quick, snapping sensations on the skin. These pulses can sometimes be described as feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin.
Q-Switched lasers are usually not painful as the energy is low. The patient might also experience a mild warming sensation in the treated area due to the energy from the laser. This sensation is usually well-tolerated.
Tattoos and deeper marks use higher energies with a more significant healing phase. A result will be seen immediately after treatment, though final result may require more than one session.

Expectations:
• After the treatment the area will feel similar to light sunburn. Typically any discomfort experienced will disappear in one to two days.
•Skin may be slightly pink immediately following treatments, this should fade after 24 hours.
• Some swelling and redness around the area is common. It is also normal to feel itchy after treatment.
Downtime:
• The laser treatment is quick and offers no downtime for rejuvenation purposes. Generally patients can return immediately to normal activities.
• Do not apply skincare with active ingredients or non-mineral makeups for 48 hours after treatment.
• Patient may experience some short term scabbing, which lasts about 1-2 weeks if brown spots or tattoos are treated.
